Carbon-13 kinetic isotope effects in the catalytic oxidation of CO over Ag

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze carbon-13 kinetic isotope effects associated with the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide over a silver catalyst. The carbon monoxide and oxygen used in the study supported natural isotopic composition. A mercury U-tube manometer was utilized to determine the total pressure of reaction mixture as a function of the reaction time. Results indicated that a carbon monoxide reacts with a single adsorbed oxygen atom in the rate determining step.

Kinetic isotope effects in the N2O decomposition over NiO

Article Abstract:

The (super 15)N and (super 18)O kinetic isotope effect (KIEs) in the catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide on NiO powder is determined in the temperature rage of 625-825 K. According to Bigeleisen's formalism, a bent, product-like NNO transition state and a fork-type NNOO transition state best fit the experimental results.

N2 desorption in the decomposition of adsorbed N2O on Rh(110)

Article Abstract:

The decomposition of N2O(a) on Rh(110) at 95-200 K was studied through the analysis of the angular distribution of desorbing N2 by means of angle-resolved thermal desorption. During the heating process N2O(a) was highly decomposed, emitting N2(g) and releasing O(a).
