EUROPE: SLOW GROWTH FOR WOOD PROTECTION AGENTS
Article Abstract:
A study by Frost & Sullivan predicts the European market for wood protection agents to reach US$ 365.3mn in 2005, up from US$ 349.4mn in 1998. Growth will be driven by new legislation (e.g. environment regulations), product innovation (e.g. radiation-cured coatings, vacuum steaming) and new markets in eastern Europe. The market research institute expects a restructuring of the industry in the medium term. Competition, also from other materials, will increasingly demand low production costs.
