Combination of polarized TIRF and ATR spectroscopies for determination of the second and fourth order parameters of molecular orientation in thin films and construction of an orientation distribution based on the maximum entropy method
Article Abstract:
Mathematical formalisms for the determination of the second and fourth order parameters of molecular films using optical spectroscopy are described. It is demonstrated how polarized measurements of total internal reflection fluorescence (TIFR) are related to the second and fourth order parameters and geometric information on the angle between absorption and emission dipoles.

Comments on the thermodynamic justification of an equation of state for monolayers
Article Abstract:
An equation of state for a monolayer purely thermodynamically, without the use of the excluded volume is derived. Using these same equations, the explanations could be contradicted and it is revealed that equation of state were in agreement with experimental results and not the thermodynamical derivations.

Rectangular (3 X 2 square root of 3) superlattice of a dodecanethiol self-assembled monolayer on Au(111) observed by ultra-high-vacuum scanning tunneling microscopy
Article Abstract:
A rectangular (3 X 2 square root of 3) surface lattice for long-term annealed dodecanethiol self-assembled monolayers on Au(111) is observed by ultra-high vacuum scanning tunneling microscopy. The described structure is believed to be an intermediate phase, which is close to desorption.
