Growth behavior of crystal faces containing symmetry-related connected nets: a case study of naphthalene and anthracene
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the morphology of naphthalene and anthracene crystals. Connected nets were determined from the crystal graph using the FACELIFT computer software. The crystal structure was then reduced to eliminate bad contacts. Experimental results indicated that the morphology of naphthalene and anthracene crystals correlate with the applied driving force, mother phase and temperature.

Crystal structures of symmetrical tetra-n-alkyl ammonium and phosphonium halides. Dissection of competing interactions leading to 'biradial' and 'tetraradial' shapes
Article Abstract:
A new study investigates the crystal packing of eight phosphonium and ammonium halide salts with four equivalent n-alkyl chains of between 10-18 carbon atoms. It is shown that packing arrangements always resemble a monolayer with the charged centre lying in the middle.
