Direct measurement of the temperature coefficient of the electron quasi-Fermi level in dye-sensitized nanocrytalline solar cells using a titanium sensor electrode
Article Abstract:
The temperature dependence of the electron quasi-Fermi level relative to the I3-/I- redox-Fermi level under short circuit conditions is studied using a novel type of dye-sensitized cell (DSC) with a passivated titanium sensor electrode located on top of the nanocrystalline titanium dioxide layer. The results reveal that the Fermi level decreases with increasing temperature as predicted for diffusive electron transport at short circuit.

Room-temperature preparation of nanocrystalline TiO2 films and the influence of surface properties on dye-sensitized solar energy conversion
Article Abstract:
A straightforward approach for the room-temperature preparation of surfactant-free films of TiO2 for dye-sensitized solar energy conversion is demonstrated. The results highlight the strong dependence of the surface properties of nanocrystalline TiO2 on details of the film preparation and suggest that the observation of TiO2 photoluminescence is a convenient way to monitor the presence of deleterious surface defect states.

Anodic growth of highly ordered Ti[O.sub.2] nanotube arrays to 134 [mu]m in length
Article Abstract:
The fabrication of self-aligned highly ordered Ti[O.sub.2] nanotube arrays by potentiostatic anodization of Ti foil having lengths up to 134 microm is described. The very long nanotube arrays are achieved in fluoride ion containing baths in combination with a variety of nonaqueous organic polar electrolytes and the as-prepared nanotubes found to be amorphous but crystallize with annealing at elevated temperatures.
