Effect of polyelectrolyte adsorption on intercolloidal forces

Article Abstract:

Numerical calculation profiles of polyelectrolytes between two charged surfaces were numerically calculated and assessed. The intersurface force was determined to be a function of the distance between charged surfaces. Polymer charge and ionic strength effects on the intersurface force was studied based on a variational approach. Results of the assessments identified the presence of three regimes, namely, a low-salt regime, a high-salt regime for weak polyelectrolytes and a second high-salt regime for strong polyelectrolytes.

Effect of hydrophobic bonding on the conformational transition and properties of intramolecular micelles formed by copolymers of maleic acid and styrene

Article Abstract:

A new study investigates a series of monoesters of an alternating copolymer of maleic anhydride, MAS-n (n=1-12), using steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence measurements. The main purpose of the research is to confirm the effect of hydrocarbon side chains on the properties and transition of the intramolecular micelles formed by MAS.
