Electrogenerated chemiluminescence of the ruthenium tris(2,2')bipyridyl/amines system on a boron-doped diamond

Article Abstract:

The electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) process of the Ru(bpy)(sub 3)(super 2+) (bpy = 2,2'bipyridyl)/co-reactant system at an as-deposited diamond electrode was investigated using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance measurements. It showed that the diamond electrode is the promising candidate for the electrode material for ECL with a wide ECL potential region on and high stability.

Highly efficient quenching of coreactant electrogenerated chemiluminescence by phenolic compounds

Article Abstract:

The quenching effects of phenolic compounds on the electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) of the Ru(bpy)(sub 3)(super 2+)/tri-n-propylamine system in aqueous solution are described. The interception of the ECL intermediate radicals by the quencher molecules significantly influenced the light emission, especially when the direct coreactant oxidation played a predominant role in producing ECL.

Homogeneous oxidation of trialkylamines by metal complexes and its impact on electrogenerated chemiluminescence in the trialkylamine/Ru(bpy)(sub 3)(super 2+) system

Article Abstract:

The rate and mechanism of oxidation of triethylamine and tripropylamine in aqueous solution are studied by measuring the direct oxidation at microelectrodes of by redox catalysis at ultramicroelectrode. In the presence of electrogenerated oxidant like Ru(bpy)(sub 3)(super 3+), the oxidation of amines causes the production of homogenous electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL).
