Electron transfer in the reaction center of the Rb. sphaeroides R-26 studied by transient absorption

Article Abstract:

The electron transfer at the reaction center of the purple photosynthetic bacterium Rb. sphaeroides R-26 was measured by time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopy technique with 200 fs temporal resolution. The results suggested a sequential electron-transfer mechanism even for unfavorable energetic situation and have shed light on energetic optimization strategies in the native system.

Reorganization asymmetry of electron transfer in ferroelectric media and principles of artificial photosynthesis

Article Abstract:

The problem of reorganization asymmetry is addressed by considering electron transfer (ET) reactions in polarizable donor-acceptor complexes immersed in polarization anisotropic media. The ratio of the reorganization energies for the forward and backward reactions and the effect of the macroscopic electric field are discussed in application to the design of efficient photosynthetic devices.

Supramolecular guanosine 5'-monophosphate structures in solution. Light scattering study

Article Abstract:

The structures formed by specific association of guanosine 5'-monophosphate (GMP) nucleotide molecules in water solutions by proton correlation spectroscopy and depolarized Rayleigh light scattering are studied. It is proved from the evidences that DNA oligomers rich in guanine stretches can form highly ordered forms called G-quadruplexes and G-wires.
