Enhancement of D(sub o)(super 5)-F(sub J)(super 7) emissions of Eu3+ ions in the vicinity of Polymer-protected Au nanoparticles in sol-gel derived B2O3-SiO2 glass

Article Abstract:

A nanometer-sized gold (Au) colloids, synthesized in solution is incorporated into a borosilicate (B2O3-SiO2) glass matrix together with Eu3+ ions via a sol-gel route to investigate the enhanced photoluminescence of trivalent europium (Eu3+) ions in the vicinity of nanometer-sized metal particles in glasses. Results revealed an enhanced fluorescence of D(sub o)(super 5)-F(sub J)(super 7) transitions of Eu3+ in the vicinity of gold nanoparticles due to high order of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) excitations.

Optical properties and valence change of europium ions in a sol-gel Al2O3-B2O3-SiO2 glass by femtosecond laser pulses

Article Abstract:

The optical properties and valance change of the Eu(super 3+) ions in the Al2O3-B2O3-SiO2 glass are investigated. The analysis of the fluorescence line-narrowing spectra (FLN) spectra indicates that there are two kinds of surroundings of the Eu(super 3+) ions.

Optical properties and local structure of Eu(super 3+) ions in sol-gel TiO2-SiO2 glasses

Article Abstract:

The preparation of TiO2-SiO2 glasses containing Eu(super 3+) ions by sol-gel method is described. The transfer of energy from the O-Ti to the Eu(super 3+) ions is observed.
