FRANCE: THE CAMERA FILM INDUSTRY IN 1998
Article Abstract:
According to the French image industry federation, in 1998 almost 131.1mn camera films were sold (+2.34%). This included 4mn black and white films and 120.3mn colour negatives. Advanced Photo System sales doubled in 1998, representing 5% of all film and disposable camera sales. Sales of 135 colour films represent 85% of all films sold. Sales of disposable cameras were up 7.76% compared to 1997.

Agfa Gevaert, a member of the Bayer group, which has a capital stock of EUR 31,502,230, is going to absorb Sterling Diagnostic Imaging France, which is based at Villejust in the Essone departement, and which has FFr 22.75mn in capital stock. This operation represents a net contribution of FFr 15,161,410.
