A look back, a look forward
Article Abstract:
The PACE Program is an initiative that was established by Farm Chemicals magazine in 1994 to help establish an industry standard for total professionalism among agricultural dealers. Under the program, dealers commit to staying abreast of concerns relating to six key areas, namely, technology transfer, employee development, regulatory compliance, community outreach, business management and customer relations. PACE identified five key trends in 1999 that dealers ought to address. They include the biotech seed controversy, profitability in a depressed farm economy, consolidation, the Internet and electronic commerce and the use of ever-improving information technology.
