Formation of one-dimensional C60 rows on TiO2(110)-1 x 2-cross-link structure and their local polymerization

Article Abstract:

A study on the adsorption and growth of a C60 monolayer on a TiO2(110)-1 x 2-cross-link structure is conducted by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). By applying a high negative bias voltage (-3.5 V) to an STM tip on the C60 monolayer, C60 oligomers are formed accompanied with the contraction of C60-C60 distance along the C60 row and bright contrast in the STM image.

Oxygen induced dissociation of Cu islands supported on TiO2(110)

Article Abstract:

Significant morphological changes in Cu islands on TiO2(110) resulting from oxygen exposures as low as 430 Langmuir at room temperature is reported. The results state that exposure of Cu islands to oxygen gas at room temperature causes islands to gradually disappear from scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) images of the surface.

Evidence for coupling between nitrile groups using DNA templates: a promising new method for monitoring structures with infrared spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The application of DNA oligomers with pairs of nitrile groups to study distances and angles in dual labeled molecules is demonstrated. The small sizes of nitrile groups makes the DNA model better probes of sterically confined regions like the inner cores of large biomolecules, compared to other spectroscopic probes.
