GERMANY: E-COMMERCE WITH BORCHERS

Article Abstract:

The German Monheim-based additives producer Borchers GmbH has been offering all of its products via internet since the beginning of July 2000. The subsidiary of Bayer claims to be a pioneer in the additives industry and expects 30-40% of orders to be placed via internet within a year, cutting costs both at Borchers and at clients. Borchers is offering its e-commerce platform, which is based on SAP software, also to other coatings industry suppliers.

Switzerland: Reorganisation at Clariant

Article Abstract:

At the beginning of 2002 Clariant is integrating its cellulose ether and polymeride division into other divisions in order to improve market orientation and increase efficiency. The cellulose ether and dispersion powder operations will be part of the functional chemicals division and the dispersions operations will be within the textile, leather and paper chemicals division.

SWITZERLAND/JAPAN: EMS BETTING ON PRIMID

Article Abstract:

The Swiss varnish raw material manufacturer Ems has brought on stream a new production plant in Domat/Ems and now has two independent production lines for Primid cross-linking agents. The facility can produce complex hydroxyalkanolamide products. The Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry has approved Ems' powder coating cross-linking agent Primid XL-552.
