Glass transition of a synthetic phospholipid in the lamellar phase

Article Abstract:

A glass transition was observed in the lamellar gel [L(sub beta)] phase but was not found in a more ordered lamellar gel. The glass transition of the L(sub beta) phase of phosphoethanolamine (POPE) can be related to several different types of molecular motion.

Chain order in lipid bilayers: FTIR and solid state NMR studies on bilayer membranes from 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoglucose

Article Abstract:

A new synthetic phospholipid bearing the monosaccharide glucose as the polar part of the amphiphilic molecule is investigated. The ordering characteristics of the lipid molecules are evaluated as a function of temperature and sample composition.

Order and dynamics in lipid bilayers from 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-phospho-diglycerol as studied by NMR spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The conformational and dynamic behavior of a new model membrane-1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-phospho-diglycerol is studied. The evaluation of the molecular properties of the lipid molecules is investigated.
