The big German chemicals group Henkel has set up Henkel Bautechnik (Ukraina) TOB in Vishgorod to boost the supply of construction chemical powders to the Ukrainian market. Local production is planned for the Ceresit brand from mid-1999 to replace imports from Poland. Annual capacity will be no less than 50,000 tonnes. Henkel claims market shares of more than 50% in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). *

JAPAN: PIGMENT PRODUCTION BY MERCK

Article Abstract:

Merck Japan is to build a mass production facility for pigments for OEM automotive coatings for about US$ 8mn. Start-up is scheduled for the second quarter of year 2000 at the earliest. This follows the completion of a semi-commercial facility at the Merck factory in Onahama that produces a new generation of aluminium-based pearl lustre pigments.
