High surface-to-volume ratio ZnO microberets: Low temperature synthesis, characterization, and photoluminescence

Article Abstract:

A unique simple method is described to produce ZnO microstructures and ZnO microberets (ZMBs) by simple thermal evaporation of pure zinc powder in the absence of catalyst and template at a relative low temperature (490 degree) where the ZnO nanowires grow vertically on both the inner and outer surfaces of a microberet shell. The formation of such hollow microstructures is found to depend on the optimum starting time air introduction.

Pattern feature designed growth of ZnO nanowire arrays for vertical devices

Article Abstract:

A versatile method for growing aligned ZnO nanowire/nanorod arrays following a redesigned pattern and feature with controlled site, shape, distribution and orientation is presented. The method demonstrated here is promising for fabricating vertically arrayed devices with designed feature and pattern for further applications in optoelectronics, sensing, field-emission, piezoelectric antenna devices and biotechnology.

Controllable synthesis of ZnO nanorod and prism on a large area

Article Abstract:

A simple and convenient method for the preparation of ZnO nanorod and nonoprism arrays is introduced. The morphologies and the shapes of the 1-D ZnO nanostructure can be controlled conveniently by varying the solvent and the alkaline condition.
