Huntsman Corp. has closed a 7.8 euro billion merger agreement with Hexion Specialty Chemicals, clearing talks that the former is acquiring Ciba Specialty Chemicals and/or Clariant. Huntsman coincidentally terminated the merger agreement with Basell, a polyolefins company. An in-depth discussion of the merger deal is presented.
