Infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopic study on the adsorption structures of 1,3-butadiene at Au(111) and Ag(111) surfaces

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the adsorption structures of 1,3-butadiene on Au(111) and Ag(111) surfaces in the temperature range from 25 K to 95 K. A closed cycle helium cryostat was utilized to record the infrared spectra. Results indicated that the adsorbates on both surfaces supported a common series of discrete states during increases in exposure. Findings also showed that the molecular plane of the adsorbate in the alpha-state was parallel to the substrate surfaces.

Adsorption characteristics of p-xylene-alpha,alpha'-dithiol on gold and silver surfaces: surface-enhanced Raman scattering and ellipsometry study

Article Abstract:

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering has been used to analyze the adsorption behaviour of p-xylene-alpha,alpha'-dithiol (p-XDT) on gold and silver sol surfaces. It was possible to confirm that p-XDT is adsorbed on gold as monothiolate by forming a single Au-S bond while it adsorbs on silver as dithiolate.
