Interfacial behavior of N-nitrosodiethylamine/bovine serum albumin complexes at the air-water and the chloroform-water interfaces by axisymmetric drop tensiometry

Article Abstract:

A research is done to determine the implication of the carcinogen N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDA) on the interfacial properties of bovine serum albumin (BSA) at the air-water interface and study the interaction of the complexes NDA/BSA with phospholid 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) at the chloroform-water interface by axisymmetric drop tensiometry measurements. The changes in the interfacial pressure influenced by the NDA/BSA molecules are not as large as the ones seen at the air-water interface.

Light scattering and NMR studies of the self-association of the amphiphilic molecule propranolol hydrochloride in aqueous electrolyte solutions

Article Abstract:

Static light scattering measurements at 25 degrees C in the presence of added electrolyte were used to determine critical concentrations, aggregation numbers and effective micellar charges of the amphiphilic drug propranolol hydrochloride. An increase in micellar size with an increase of added electrolyte concentration was shown by photon correlation spectroscopy. The application of mass action theory to the concentration dependence of 1H NMR chemical shifts confirmed the results gathered from light scattering.

Conformational changes in human serum albumin induced by sodium perfluorooctanoate in aqueous solutions

Article Abstract:

Conformational changes in the bulk solution and at the air-aqueous interface of human serum albumin (HSA) induced by changes in concentration of sodium perflurooctanoate (C(sub 7)F(sub 15)COO(sub -)Na(sub +)) were studied. It is found that when surfactant concentration increases and conformational changes in bulk solution occur, the adsorption regimes disappear.
