Intramolecular electron transfer within a covalent, fixed-distance donor-acceptor molecule in an ionic liquid

Article Abstract:

Intramolecular photoinduced charge separation and recombination within the donor-acceptor molecule 4-(N-pyrrolidino)naphthalene-1,8-imide-pyromellitimide (5ANI-PI) are analyzed. The unique properties of ionic liquids are used for controlling the rates of electron transfer in donor-acceptor systems in ways that are complementary to both conventional organic solvents and liquid crystals.

Electron-transfer dynamics of photosynthetic reaction centers in thermoresponsive soft materials

Article Abstract:

Material design issues are considered by evaluating the stability, organization, and photophysics of bacterial photosynthetic reaction centers (RCs) encapsulated in thermoresponsive, soft nanostructures. The dynamics of the electron-transfer in the warm and cold phase of the RCs are presented.
