Investigation of free base, Mg, Sn, and Zn substituted porphyrin LB films as gas sensors for organic analytes

Article Abstract:

The visible absorption spectra of different substituted porphyrin compounds both in chloroform solution and as Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) solid-state films are investigated. The changes in the absorption spectra of Zn, Sn and Mg induced by their exposure to various organic compounds are described to find out if this method is useful for optical gas sensor.

Tuning J-aggregates of tetra(p-hydroxyphenyl)porphyrin by the headgroups of ionic surfactants in acidic nonionic micellar solution

Article Abstract:

Appropriate pH, nonionic micelles and trace levels of ionic surfactant with an oxyacid headgroup are required for the formation of the J-aggregates of the diacid form of tetra(p-hydroxyphenyl)porphyrin (THPP). The overall resonance Raman intensities are found to be stronger in the J-aggregates than in the monomers.
