Keep it flowing

Article Abstract:

Knowledge of preventive maintenance among farm operators can eliminate the need for service calls on liquid applicators. The availability of basic tools, a number of common replacement parts and a multimeter can save a substantial amount that would otherwise be spent on service calls. It is also important to have the liquid applicator's operator manual handy at all times. The manual contains the pertinent information needed for the operation of the device as well as a few tips on trouble-shooting.

Liquid fine-tuning

Article Abstract:

The time required for the chemical to travel to the injection pump to the injection point and its distribution across the boom is the same amount of time required to free the boom from chemical contamination in chemical injection systems. This delay, called the 'look-ahead,' should be considered as a vital part of any calibration process for chemical injection systems. The delay can be programmed when a chemical injection is operating at variable-rate or in injection mode.
