Kinetics of abstraction of D and O on Cu(110) surfaces by gaseous H atoms
Article Abstract:
The kinetics of the reactions of gaseous H atoms with D and O adsorbed on Cu(110) surfaces are measured and compared with the kinetics of these reactions on Cu(100) and Cu(111) and other metal surfaces. Although a hot-atom process, the HD kinetics of the H- ->D(ad) abstraction reaction exhibits an Eley-Rideal (ER) kinetics phenomenology with a cross-section of 2.4 angstrom(super 2), and only a very small contribution of D2 products was observed.

Functionalization of titanium oxide surfaces by means of poly(alkyl-phosphonates)
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that multiple attachment sites improve the stability of monomolecular adlayers is tested in the case of PEG-ylated poly(alkyl-phosphonates) compounds. The results reveal that the poly(alkyl-phosphonate)-based adlayers combine multiple site attachment of phosphonic groups and presentation of PEG side chains to the aqueous environment resulting in improved stability over a wide pH range and excellent resistant to protein adsorption.
