Laser fragmentation of water-suspend gold flakes via spherical submicroparticles to fine nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
A laser-induced (at 532 nm) gold nanoparticle formation from water-suspend gold flakes for which the required minimum fluence is approximately 0.5 J/(cm(super 2) pulse) for a nanosecond laser is introduced. From the estimated balance between the absorbed laser energy and the energy for the relevant particles to produce a high-temperature molten state, possible fragmentation mechanisms are discussed.

Absolute standard redox potential of monolayer-protected gold nanoclusters
Article Abstract:
The redox properties of monolayer-protected gold nanoclusters (MPCs) are considered from both the theoretical and experimental viewpoints. The average valence state of MPCs at a given potential is estimated by employing ferricinium/ferrocene [Fc(super +)/Fc] as a reference redox couple.

Self-assembled monolayer of L-Cysteine on Au(111): hydrogen exchange between zwitterionic L-cysteine and physisorbed water
Article Abstract:
A self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of L-cysteine was prepared on Au (111) surface by vapor deposition in ultrahigh vacuum and was characterized by techniques of temperature-programmed desorption (TDP). Analysis indicates that L-cysteine molecules existed in the zwitterionic form.
