Mechanism of the Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley-Oppenauer (MPVO) redox equilibrium on Sn- and Zr-beta zeolite catalysts
Article Abstract:
An investigation of the mechanism of the Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley (MPV) reduction of cyclohexane with 2-butanol catalyzed by Sn-beta and Zr-beta zeolites is conducted using density functional theory (DFT) and the cluster approach. It is found that as in the aluminum alkoxide catalyzed reaction, the hydride shift occurs through a six-membered transition state, and the role of the hydrolyzed and therefore more flexible M-OH bond is just to facilitate the initial deprotonation of the alcohol.

Assembly of p-nitroaniline molecule in the channel of zeolite MFI large single crystal for NLO material
Article Abstract:
A large high-quality zeolite MFI single crystal 3.0 x 1.5 x 1.5 mm(super 3) in size was synthesized by means of a nutrition supplemental method and a p-nitroaniline (PNA)/MFI single crystal was prepared via physical vapor deposition. The light yellow PNA/MFI single crystal changed to green when irradiated by 1062 nm fundamental wavelength from a Nd: YAG pulse laser.
