Methane decomposition into hydrogen and carbon nanofibres over supported Pd-Ni catalysts: characterization of the catalysts during the reaction

Article Abstract:

The changes of the local structures and shapes of catalytically active metal components in Ni-Pd/SiO2, Ni/SiO2, and Pd/SiO2 during methane decomposition are examined by measuring Ni and Pd K-edge XANES and EXAFS and also TEM images. The number of facets on Pd-Ni alloy particles that precipitated carbon atoms increased during methane decomposition explains the increase in the catalytic life as well the formation of branched carbon nanofibers.

Characterization of a composite photocatalyst

Article Abstract:

A study is done on composite TiO2 photocatalysts using solid state (super 29)Si nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and energy filtered transmission electron microscopy (EFTEM) is presented. Energy filtered transmission electron microscopy shows that titanium dioxide is found to be chemically bound to the surface of ZSM-5 via elimination of -OH between the surface of TiO2 and the zeolite.

Design of a novel molecular-imprinted Rh-amine complex on SiO2 and its shape-selective catalysis for alpha-methylstyrene hydrogenation

Article Abstract:

The characterization and shape-selective hydrogenation activity of the Rh-monomer complex catalyst imprinted with alpha-methylbenzylamine at a SiO2 surface is reported. The study revealed that the imprinted Rh is highly active for alpha-methylstyrene hydrogenation, whereas other supported Rh structures before the imprinting have no activity for the reaction.
