Method to evaluate the fractal dimensions of solid adsorbents
Article Abstract:
A unique strategy for evaluating the fractal dimensions of solid adsorbents was developed to do away with some of the disadvantages of the conventional techniques. The Freunlich isotherm was used as a starting point for the computations and the point-slopes of the ln vs ln p plot representing the 1/b values were utilized to trace the isotherms at any stage of adsorption. Investigations showed that the point-slope technique may offer a good estimation of the fractal dimensions of zeolites.

Alkyl chain ordering of assymetric phosphatidylcholines adsorbed at a liquid-liquid interface
Article Abstract:
Adsorbed phosphatidylcholines (PCs) in the absence of an opposing monolayer are expected to exhibit different trends as a function of chain mismatch. Vibrational spectroscopy measurements at the oil-water interface reveal that highly assymetric PCs showed relatively disordered chains. The shorter chain PCs (< 16 carbons/chain) were also relatively disordered. The greater disorder in shorter chain PCs is a consequence of reduced chain-chain interactions over a smaller chain length.
