Micellization and related behavior of binary and ternary surfactant mixtures in aqueous medium: Cetyl pyridinium chloride (CPC), cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), and polyoxyethylene (10) cetyl ether (Brij-56) derived system

Article Abstract:

Tensiometric, conductometric, calorimetric, spectrophotometric and fluorimetric techniques were used for examining mixed micelles formed with cetyl pyridinium chloride (CPC), cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and polyoxyethylene (10) cetyl ether (Brij-56) mixed in different combinations in aqueous medium. Spherical micelles were formed by cationic amphiphiles CPC and CTAB whereas nonspherical micelles were formed by the nonionic amphiphile Bj-56.

Studies on binary and ternary amphiphile combinations of tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide ([C.sub.14]TAB), tetradecyltriphenylphosphonium bromide ([C.sub.14]TPB), and tetradecylpyridinium bromide ([C.sub.14]PB). A critical analysis of their interfacial and bulk behaviors

Article Abstract:

Different methods are used for examining the interfacial and bulk behaviors of binary and ternary combinations of tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide ([C.sub.14]TAB), tetradecyltriphenylphosphonium bromide ([C.sub.14]TPB), and tetradecylpyridinium bromide ([C.sub.14]PB). The self-aggregation processes are exothermic and entropy controlled and the ternary micelles are all spherical when compared to the binaries.

Physiochemical studies on pepsin-CTAB interaction: Energetics and structural changes

Article Abstract:

A series of techniques for spectral, viscometric and circular dichorism measurements were employed to analyze the interaction between pepsin and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The details of the interactions are discussed and the effect of CTAB on structural characteristics of pepsin is mentioned.
