Microwave-hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of zirconium substituted SBA-15 mesoporous silica

Article Abstract:

Zirconium substituted mesoporous SBA-15 molecular silica with Si/Zr ratios of 10, 20, 40, and 80 is successfully synthesized at 373 K under microwave-hydrothermal conditions within about 2 h. The results reveal that microwave-assisted synthesis is an ideal approach to prepare Zr-substituted SBA-15, which is expected to be useful as a selective oxidation catalyst for reactions involving large molecules.

Sol-gel preparation and photoluminescence of size controlled germanium nanoparticles embedded in a SiO2 matrix

Article Abstract:

Germanium nanoparticles of different sizes in silica glasses are prepared via a sol-gel method, using Cl3-Ge-C2H4-COOH and Si (OC2H5)4 as the starting materials. It is observed that the size of the germanium nanoparticles decreases as the heat-treatment time in a H2 gas atmosphere increases, thus the optical absorption edge shifts to higher energies.

Novel zirconium-titanium phosphates mesoporous materials for hydrogen production by photoinduced water splitting

Article Abstract:

Syntheses of mesoporous zirconium-titanium phosphates (ZTP) are described under a wide range of synthetic parameters. The results of photocatalytic decomposition of water for the hydrogen generation suggest that mesoporous ZTP materials are liable for the production of photocatalysts.
