Molecular dynamics simulations of neutral chlorpromazine in zwitterionic phospholipid monolayers

Article Abstract:

Molecular dynamics simulations are performed to investigate the interactions between chlorpromazine (CPZ), a neuroleptic drug used in treatment of psychiatric disorders, and dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC), a zwitterionic phospholipid, in Langmuir monolayers. The results reveal that neutral CPZ is preferentially located in the lipid tail region of the phospholipids, in little contact with the aqueous phase, and the orientation of its rigid ring structure and tail conformation vary with lipid surface density.

Molecular-level control of the photoluminescence from PPV nanostructure films

Article Abstract:

A study exploits the fabrication of varied molecular architectures in layer-by-layer (LbL) films to control the photoluminescence (PL) of poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) in an unprecedented way. Transfer of energy in this study was controlled by inserting spacer layer of inert polymers between PPV and Brilliant Yellow (BY) layers and by photoaligning the BY molecules through trans-cis-trans isomerization.

Thermal imidization and structural evolution of thin films of poly(4,4'-oxydiphenylene p-pyromellitamic diethyl ester)

Article Abstract:

The article studies the evolution of chemical composition and structure during the thermal imidization of an ester-type polyimide precursor, poly(4,4'-oxydiphenylene p-pyromellitamic diethyl ester), in micrometer scale films. The thermal imidization reaction was found to result in structural evolution in the film through three-step process.
