Molecular recognition through H-bonding in micelles formed by dioctylphosphatidyl nucleosides
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine micelle formation in water solution induced by short-chain phospholinucleoiside bases, diC8P-adenosine and diC8P-uridine. Using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), ultraviolet and CD spectroscopies, it was observed that the phospholiponucleoiside bases demonstrate stacking and hydrogen-bonding interactions at the micellar surface. In addition, gathered NMR data indicate that a H-bonded Waton-Crick adduct was formed by the bases despite being in a highly competitive aqueous environment.

Probing the influence of X-rays on aqueous copper solutions using time-resolved in situ combined video/X-ray absorption near-edge/ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
The effect of synchrotron radiation on a series of homogeneous aqueous copper solutions in a microreactor was studied by time-resolved in situ video monitoring and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy in combination with X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy. The results suggest that the hydrated electron was responsible for reduction and the extent of metal ion reduction showed a dependency on the ligand type, the nature of counteranion and the redduction potential.

Optical spectra of Cu(II)-azurin by hybrid TDDFT-molecular dynamics simulations
Article Abstract:
The ground state electronic structure of oxidized azurin from Pseudomonas aeruginosa and its optical response are investigated. Results reveal that the unpaired electron spin density is mainly localized on the copper ion.
