Moving beyond mapping

Article Abstract:

SOILTEQ, a unit of Minnetonka, MN-based AgChem Equipment Company Inc, has released SGIS Version 3. The system, described as a data management software instead of a mapping software, will help ag product dealers make more use of site-specific data that they have collected over the years. SOILTEQ's SGIS Version 3, introduced at a ceremony held in Jackson, MN, on Jun 7, 2000, took over 18 months to create in order to integrate a whole new set of specifications and requirements.

Bt on the back burner

Article Abstract:

Less acreage may be devoted to biotech corn in 2000, but not entirely because of the controversy surrounding biotech crops. In Europe, a decline in corn borer infestations is making it more economical for growers to buy non-Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) corn. Some growers, however, are staying with Bt corn, figuring out that they will be in a better position when a European corn borer infestation breaks out.
