Multiply charged redox-active oligomers in the gas phase: electrolytic electrospray ionization mass spectrometry of metallocenes
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze neutral metallocenes using the constant current electrolytic nature of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. Several polymeric metallocenes were also examined in solution and solid-state studies to determine answers to concerns about mass and charge transport mechanisms. Results indicated the feasibility of using the constant-current electrolytic nature of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry to readily produce charged analytes supporting more than two charges per molecule.

The effective temperature of peptide ions dissociated by sustained off-resonance irradiation collisional activation in Fourier transform mass spectrometry
Article Abstract:
Peptide ions are used as thermometer ions to quantitatively characterize the internal energy deposited by collisionally activated dissociation (CAD). The sustained off-resonance irradiation (SORI)-CAD dissociation kinetics of several peptide ions are also measured. The effective temperature of the ion population activated by SORI is obtained by a combination of Arrhenius activation parameters measured by blackbody infrared radiative dissociation.

Field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometry studies of proteins: Dipole alignment in ion mobility spectrometry?
Article Abstract:
The field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometry (FAIMS) behavior of electrospray-ionization-generated ions for 10 proteins up to ~70 kDa is reported. Those above 29 kDa exhibit a strong increase of mobility at high field, which is consistent with predicted ion dipole alignment.
