Multistage exit of excited xanthone from micelles

Article Abstract:

Laser excitation of xanthone triggers its exit from micelles and produces spectroscopic changes that may be classified into three distinct stages. The first stage of this spectral evolution is intersystem crossing, which is followed by spectral changes in the triplet-triplet absorption spectrum. The latter spectral changes reflect an increasingly polar environment as the probe moves from the micelle interior to the micellar surface and later to the aqueous bulk phase.

Magnetic field control of photoinduced silver nanoparticle formation

Article Abstract:

The micelles of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) are prepared and an excellent hydrogen donor 1,4-cyclohexadiene (CHD) is used to promote the rapid generation of ketyl radicals. The external magnetic fields are used to control the rate of formation and properties of silver nanoparticles generated by reaction of ketyl radicals formed in the photoreduction of benzophenone in surfactant micelles.
