Net charge and electrophoretic mobility of lysozyme charge ladders in solutions of nonionic surfactant
Article Abstract:
The electrophoretic mobility and the thermal diffusion of lysozyme proteins dissolved in aqueous solutions of a nonionic surfactant ([C.sub.12][E.sub.6]) at a wide range of concentrations of the surfactant are reported. The findings reveal that the mechanism leading to the change in the effective charge of protein could involve the deformation of the cloud of counterions around the protein when it squeezes through the narrow aqueous channels formed in the solution of elongated micelles.

Selection rules of the charge transfer mechanism of surface-enhanced Raman scattering: The effect of the adsorption on the relative intensities of pyrimidine bonded to silver nanoclusters
Article Abstract:
The surface-enhanced Raman spectra (SERS) of pyrimidine recorded on a silver electrode is analyzed based on the resonant Raman (RR) process involving photoexcited charge transfer (CT) states of the metal-adsorbate surface complex. The results have confirmed the relevance of CT mechanism in the SERS of aromatic molecules and have also highlighted the origin of the SERS phenomenon.
