PEO-PPO block copolymer vectors do not interact directly with DNA but with lipid membranes

Article Abstract:

Small angle neutron (SANS) and light scattering is used for studying the interaction between fragments of double stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and a synthetic triblock [poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide)] amphiphilic polymer (L64), a potential vector for gene therapy. The electrical measurements on black lipid membranes have shown that the major effect of L64 as a vector is to permeabilize the cell's membrane.

Molecular dynamics simulation of ss-DNA translocation between copper nanoelectrodes incorporating electrode charge dynamics

Article Abstract:

Molecular dynamics simulations are used for studying the translocation of single-stranded (ss)-DNA through the nanoscale gap between the nanoscale electrodes of a proposed genomic sequencing device. The studies have shown that the electrode charge dynamics (ECD) potential is a better descriptor of the metal/nonmetal electrostatic interactions when compared to the universal force field (UFF).

The puzzle of contrast inversion in DNA STM imaging

Article Abstract:

The phenomenon of contrast inversion in scanning tunneling microscope (STM) imaging of DNA, both due to a controlled change in the imaging parameters or spontaneously induced is demonstrated. A model is formulated which describes the phenomenon via indirect tunneling through virtual states in the vacuum between the STM tip and the DNA molecule.
