Phase transitions in the anchored organic bilayers of long-chain alkylammonium lead iodides (CnH(sub 2n+1)NH3)(sub 2)PbI4; n = 12, 16, 18

Article Abstract:

The single perovskite slab alkylammonium lead iodides (CnH(sub 2n+1)NH3)(sub 2)PbI4; n = 12, 16, 18, display two phase transitions, just above the room temperature, associated with changes in the alkylammonium chains. The first phase transition was associated with symmetry changes arising from a dynamic rotational disordering of the ammonium headgroup of the chain whereas the second transition is characterized by an increased conformational disorder of the methylene units of the alkyl chains.

Quantification of the effect of 4-tert-butylpyridine addition to [I.sup.-]/[I.sub.3.sup.-] redox electrolytes in dye-sensitized nanostructured Ti[O.sub.2] solar cells

Article Abstract:

The precise action of 4-tert-butylpyridine (4TBP) in the dye-sensitized nanostructured Ti[O.sub.2] solar cell is examined by combining a number of experimental techniques. The results have indicated that the action of 4TBP is both at the semiconductor-electrolyte interface, where it affects the surface charge, and in electrolyte, where it forms a complex with iodine.

Molten and solid trialkysulfonium iodides and their polyiodides as electrolytes in dye-sensitized nanocrystalline solar cells

Article Abstract:

Potential new electrolyte for dye-sensitized nanocrystalline solar cells (DNSCs) of Gratzel type based on trialkylsulfonium iodides is studied. The room temperature molten salts of (Et2MeS)I, (Bu2MeS)I, and (Bu2EtS)I have shown good conducting abilities at ambient conditions.
