Photocatalytic activity of the Ru(sub 2)-dispersed composite p-block metal oxide LiInGeO(sub 4) with d(super 10)-d(super 10) configuration for water decomposition

Article Abstract:

The ruthenium oxide-loaded composite p-block metal oxide LiInGeO(sub 4) with d(super 10)-d(super 10) configuration exhibited high photocatalytic activity for the overall splitting of water to produce H(sub 2) and O(sub 2) under UV irradiation. Changes in the photocatalytic activity with the calcination temperature of LiInGeO(sub 4), the amount of RuO(sub 2) loaded, and the states of RuO(sub 2) indicated that the combination of highly crystallized LiInGeO(sub 4) and a high dispersion of RuO(sub 2) particles resulted in high photocatalytic activity.

Preparation and characterization of ruthenium/carbon aerogel nanocomposites via a supercritical fluid route

Article Abstract:

Carbon aerogel supported ruthenium nanoparticles are synthesized by impregnating carbon aerogels with Ru(acac)(sub 3) or Ru(cod)(tmhd)(sub 2) from supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO(sub 2)) solutions, followed by thermal reduction of these precursors. The ruthenium nanoparticles are dispersed homogenously throughout the porous carbon aerogel matrix, and the average sizes obtained under different conditions ranged from 1.7 to 3.8 nm.
