Photoluminescence enhancement of PEG-modified YAG:Ce(super 3+) nanocrystal phosphor prepared by glycothermal method

Article Abstract:

The Y3Al5O12:Ce(super 3+) (YAG:Ce(super 3+)) nanocrystal were synthesized in 1,4-butylene glycol with and without polyethylene glycol (PEG) by the glycothermal method. The surface modification of the YAG:Ce(super 3+) nanocrystal by PEG induces the surface passivation, the prevention of oxidation of Ce(super 3+) to Ce(super 4+), the promotion of the incorporation of Ce(super 3+) into YAG and the local structural rearrangement, resulting in the photoluminescence enhancement were observed.

Optical properties of Ce(super 3+) in self-assembled strontium chloro(hydroxy)apatite nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

Strontium chloropatite nanocrystals (nc) of size in the range 10-100 nms is prepared by an aqueous colloidal methods. Optical data showed that the (super 2)F(sub J) ground state of Ce(super 3+) as a dopant in nanocrystalline apatites undergoes considerable modification arising from cross-relaxation between the Ce(super 3+) ground state and hole states of the host matrix created near valence band edge.

Luminescence of Ce(super 3+) in Y2SiO5 nanocrystals: Role of crystal structure and crystal size

Article Abstract:

The role of crystal structure and crystal size on the photoluminescence properties of Ce9(super 3+) ions in Y2SiO5 nanocrystals is reported. The emission at 430 nm and lifetime of the excited state of Ce(super 3+) ion doped Y2SiO5 nanocrystals are found to be sensitive to the crystal structure, crystal size, and dopant concentration.
