Preparation and hydrogen storage properties of zeolite-templated carbon materials nanocast via chemical vapor deposition: Effect of the zeolite template and nitrogen doping

Article Abstract:

Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) was employed using zeolite 13X or zeolite Y as solid template and acetonitrile or ethylene as carbon precursor, to prepare carbon materials that exhibit high surface area and/or varying levels of graphitic character. The findings suggest that acetonitrile-derived carbon materials obtained at a CVD temperature of 750-850 degrees Celsius are essentially nongraphic, have high surface area and exhibit some structural ordering derived from the zeolite template.

Optical transmittance of indium tin oxide nanoparticles prepared by laser-induced fragmentation in water

Article Abstract:

Indium tin oxide (ITO) nanoparticles are irradiated in water by a focused pulsed laser beam to fabricate much smaller ITO nanoparticles and the particle sizes and the transmittance spectra of the irradiated nanoparticles are examined to correlate how changes in particle size affect the optical properties of ITO nanoparticles. The optical band gap of the fragmented nanoparticles increased with decreasing average particle size, which might be caused by the Burstein-Moss effect.
