Purity assessment of single-wall carbon nanotubes, using optical absorption spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The ability to accurately quantify the mass fraction of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) in the carbonaceous portion of given sample is demonstrated. The result reveals the use of optical absorption spectroscopy on SWNT-DMA dispersions is shown to produce highly resolved spectra, which allow for a quantative, noninvasive approach to probing the bulk SWNT electronic transitions.

Interactions between polymers and carbon nanotubes: A molecular dynamics study

Article Abstract:

The intermolecular interaction energy between single-walled carbon nanotubes and polymers was computed and the morphology of polymers adsorbed to the surface of nanotubes was investigated. The result reveals that polymers with a backbone containing aromatic rings are promising candidates for the noncovalent binding of carbon nanotube into composite structures.
