Ram spectroscopic study on the structure of water in aqueous polyelectrolyte solutions

Article Abstract:

The structure and hydrogen bonding of water in various kinds of aqueous polyelectrolyte solutions are analyzed with contours of oxygen-hydrogen stretching of polarized Raman spectra. Effects of chemical properties of the polymers and water domains surrounded by the polymer chains on the relative intensity of collective band (C value) corresponding to a long-range coupling of oxygen-hydrogen stretching are described.

Acidity of frozen electrolyte solutions

Article Abstract:

The effective (super 10)F NMR chemical shift of 3- fluorobenzoic acid as in situ probe of the acidity of extensively frozen electrolyte solutions are reported. The way in which acidity scales based on solid-state NMR measurements could be used to assess the degree of ionization of weak acids and bases in frozen media is discussed.
