Scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy of wet-chemically prepared chlorinated Si(111) surfaces

Article Abstract:

Ultrahigh vacuum scanning tunneling microscopy (UHV cryo-STM) and tunneling spectroscopy are used to investigate the chlorine-terminated Si(111) surfaces prepared through the wet-chemical treatment of H-terminated Si(111) surfaces with P[Cl.sub.5] in chlorobenzene. Tunneling spectroscopy has revealed a nonzero density of states at zero bias, which is in contrast to the cases of H/Si(111), methyl/Si(111), or ethyl/Si(111).

Synthesis and optical properties of S-doped ZnO nanostructures: Nanonails and nanowires

Article Abstract:

S-doped ZnO nanostructures such as nanonails and nanowires are synthesized through a simple one-step catalyst-free thermal evaporation process on a large scale. Studies found out that the S-doped ZnO nanonails and nanowires were single-crystalline wurtzite structure and grew along the (001) direction.

STM study of copper growth on ZnO(0001)-Zn and ZnO(0001)-O surfaces

Article Abstract:

The morphology of Cu films deposited on polar (0001)-Zn and (0001)-O surfaces of ZnO at room temperature is investigated with STM. The analysis done through three dimensional cluster growth mode showing a strong dependence of Cu growth on surface defects is observed.
