Self-assembly of flowerlike AIOOH (boehmite) 3D nanoarchitectures

Article Abstract:

A hydrothermal route using an ethanol-water solution to progressively synthesize a sequence of flowerlike three-dimensional gamma-AlOOH boehmite nanostructures without employing templates or matrixes for self-assembly is described. The specific surface area and pore-size distribution of the product as determined by gas-sorption measurements have shown that the boehmite nanoarchitectures displayed high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area and porosity properties.

Dispersion of nitric acid-treated SWNTs in organic solvents and solvent mixtures

Article Abstract:

Optical absorption was used to study the dispersion of pristine and nitric acid-treated single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) in organic solvents and solvent mixtures. The dispersibility of nitric acid-treated tubes increased with the solvent's hydrogen-bonding ability and reached 27mg/L in ethanol and 35 mg/L in water.

Synthesis and characterization of alkoxide-derived Pt nanoparticles

Article Abstract:

The formation of Platinum nanoparticles by the reaction of hexachloroplatinic acid (CPA) with sodium ethoxide, in ethanol, is discussed. This results in the formation of two phases namely a precipitate and a yellow or orange colored solution phase.
