Electronic and structural characterization of a piezochromic indigoid: 11-(3'-oxodihydrobenzothiophen-2-ylidene)cyclopenta[1,2-b:4,3-b']

Article Abstract:

Studies done on the mechanism of the piezochromic effect on the basis of the crystal structure and thermal analysis is reported. Results reveal that the red phase before grinding process is a thermodynamically stable state and coincides with the crystal structure investigated on single crystals while, the black phase as prepared by mechanical shearing is a meta-stable state.

Spectral and crystallographic coincidence in a mixed crystal of two components and a crystal of their component in pyrrolopyrrole pigments

Article Abstract:

Focusing more on the crystal structure and intermolecular interactions, this study analyses the electronic structure in evaporated films and single crystals of MX-DPP and MTB-DPP. Local similarity was found to be the determinant for the coincidence of electronic and crystallographic structures.
