Spectral and photophysical studies of the 1:3 (guest/host) rotaxene-like inclusion complex formed by a 3H-indole and beta-cyclodextrin
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a novel kind of rotaxene-like inclusion complex formed by a 3H-indole and beta-cyclodextrin. The Cary 1 Bio UV-vis spectrophotometer was utilized to record the absorption spectra. Each solution was excited near the absorption wavelength maximum by 1-cm-path quartz cells. Experimental results confirmed the hydrophobic nature of the interaction between beta-cyclodextrin and iodotrimethyl 2-(p-hexylaminophenyl)-3,3-dimethyl-5-carboethoxy-3H indole ammonium.

NMR study of the solution structures of the inclusion complexes of beta-cyclodextrin with (+)-catechin and (-)-epicatechin
Article Abstract:
The solution structures of the inclusion complexes of beta-cyclodextrin (CD) with (_)-catechin (CA) and (-)-epicatechin have been investigated in D2O at 35 degrees C using NMR. On beta-CD.CA inclusion complex formation, a large portion of the flavenoid skeleton of CA is included in the beta-CD cavity from the wide secondary hydroxyl group.
