Surface femtochemistry: frustrated desorption of alkali atoms from noble metals
Article Abstract:
The photoinduced dynamics of alkali atoms on noble metal surfaces provide significant new insights into surface photochemical processes are discussed. The time resolved methods in studying of surface reactions by significant deviations in the electronic and nuclear dynamics of Cs/Cu(111) from the standard models for surface photochemistry.

Hyperthermal reactions of O and [O.sub.2] with a hydrocarbon surface: Direct C-C bond breakage by O and H-atom abstraction by [O.sub.2]
Article Abstract:
A C-C bond-breaking reaction is observed when a beam containing hyperthermal oxygen is directed at a continuously refreshed saturated hydrocarbon liquid surface. The dynamics of this C-C bond-breaking reaction is investigated by monitoring time-of-flight and angular distributions of the volatile product, OC[H.sub.3] or [H.sub.2]CO.

Identification of lipid aggregate structures on TiO2 surface using headgroup IR bands
Article Abstract:
A correlation between the IR bands of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) adsorbed on TiO2 and the nature of the aggregated structure is established. It was found that the spectral changes associated with the headgroup vibrational modes could be used to identify the different lipid structures on TiO2.
