Surface sites of Pd/CeO (sub 2)/Al (sub 2) O (sub 3) catalysts in the partial oxidation of propane

Article Abstract:

Propone oxidation was studied on a Pd-supported Al (sub 2) O (sub 3) catalyst promoted by ceria, when this ceria was first grafted as a monolayer over alumina. The reaction proceeded under different feed conditions, and the surface sites were identified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy in a pretreatment chamber and then compared to temperature-programmed desorption, temperature programmed surface reaction, and the catalytic results, in the presence and absence of water.

Abstraction of oxygen from dioxygen on Al(111) revealed by resonant multiphoton ionization laser spectrometry

Article Abstract:

A demonstration on the operation of an abstraction channel in the chemisorptions of O2 on Al(111) is presented. The study concluded that in the O2/Al(111) interaction ordinary chemisorptions is hampered because of the slow spin transition whereas the abstraction channel is open due to the large oxygen atom binding energy to Al(111), in contract to transition-metal surfaces.

Kinetic study of the quenching reaction of singlet oxygen by flavonoids in ethanol solution

Article Abstract:

The quenching rate of singlet oxygen by seven kinds of flavonoids with 2,3-double bonds is measured spectrophotometrically in ethanol at 35 degree Celsius. The overall rate constants increased as the number of OH groups substituted to the flavone skeleton increases.
