Synchrotron SAXS study of the mechanisms of aggregation of sulfate zirconia sols

Article Abstract:

In situ synchrotron small-angle X-ray scattering is used in examining the mechanisms of aggregation of sulfate zirconia sols, thus studying the effects of the variations of acid, water, and sulfate contents on the process of aggregate growth. It was observed that two clearly different mechanisms govern the aggregation at the beginning and at advanced stages of the process.

WO(sub x)/ZrO(sub 2) catalysts prepared by anionic exchange: In situ Raman investigation from the precursor solutions to the calcined catalysts

Article Abstract:

The structural evolution of WO(sub x)/ZrO(sub 2) catalysts prepared by anionic exchange was studied by in situ Raman spectroscopy and the solids were dried, calcined under air at 700 degree Celsius. The Raman spectra of the dried solids did not reveal peroxotungstate species but were typical of tetrahedral (WO4)(super 2-) species.

Extended x-ray absorption fine structure studies on mixed-phase zirconia

Article Abstract:

The ZrO2 an important catalyst support and ceramic material, its local environment is studied by extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) on zirconia or yttrium-stabilized zirconia. A much-decreased Zr-Zr peak was found in the RDF of mixed-phase ZrO2.
