Synthesis, characterization, and tunable optical properties of hollow gold nanospheres

Article Abstract:

The method of sacrificial galvanic replacement of cobalt nanoparticles was used to synthesize nearly nondisperse hollow gold nanospheres (HGNs) with tunable interior and exterior diameters. The HGNs so synthesized show great potential for chemical and biological sensing applications, especially those requiring nanostructures with near-IR absorption.

Spontaneous self-assembly of cerium oxide nanoparticles to nanorods through supraaggregate formation

Article Abstract:

A study is carried out to report the self-assembly of cerium oxide nanoparticles to nanorods. The formation of cylindrical supraaggregates and their subsequent growth by preferential assembling of ceria nanocrystallites along the longitudinal direction was proposed to be the probable mechanism of spontaneous self-assembly of nanorods.

Relevance in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of the formation of Fe-O-Ce interactions on iron-cerium mixed oxide systems

Article Abstract:

The catalytic properties of a series of Ce-promoted Fe catalysts for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) are studied. The Ce promotion has resulted due to the presence of [Fe.sup.0]-Ce(III) ensembles in the final catalysts arising from the initial Fe-O-Ce bridges developed in the parent calcined samples.
